1 .         General meeting with Eaton

Location: 135 MEB

 

Perhaps best known for its power transmission concepts, Eaton is also a leader in the power distribution and protection segments. It is a pioneer in developing hybrid transmissions for both on- and off-road equipment. Keep watching this space for topics updates and food choice!

 

2.         Meet the Exec Board Lunch!

 

Date: Thursday, March 13

Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Location: Union Ballroom

 

Ever consider being on the ASME executive board? Come on out to lunch to meet current executive board members and get the inside scoop on all of the various positions. This is a great chance to get all of your questions answered about the ASME exec board.

3.         General meeting with BP

4.         Professor Lunch with Professor Matalon

 

Date: March 25, 2008

Time: 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM

Location: Illini Union Ballroom

 

Professor Matalon is a well liked professor in the ME department. His research is in the areas of: Combustion theory, chemically reacting flows, theoretical fluid mechanics, applied mathematics; asymptotic and perturbation methods. He is a newer U of I faculty member with previous experience at Northwestern University

5.         Peer Advising

 

When:  Tuesday March 25th 4:30-5:30 in MEL
             Wednesday March 26th 5:30-7:00 pm in the lounges of ISR and Garner Hall.

 

This is a great opportunity for underclassmen to come get advice from real students, upper classmen in MechSe.

 


6.         Professor Auction

Annual ASME fund raising event for Relay for Life. This year it will take place March 25th at the end of the general meeting. In this event professors offer "events" such as a dinner at their house, or a night out bowling. The professor pays for the actual event and the students bid to go to the event. The money that the students pay goes Relay for Life. Last year we raised over $500 with this event.

 

7.         Lyondell Chemical Company factory tour

 

Date: Saturday, March 29

Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Location: Morris, IL

 

Lyondell is inviting up to twenty Mechanical Engineering students to learn more about its Morris, IL facility through a factory tour. The tour will consist of an overview by engineers and a walking/bus tour through the plant.
All expenses will be paid by Lyondell.
