ASME Newsletter: January 25, 20091. General Meeting with Continental AG
* When: January 27th at 5:30 P.M.
* Where: MEB 135
Join ASME for its first general meeting of the semester, which includes a special presentation by Continental AG - a leading automotive manufacturer of tires, brakes, stability control systems, and engine injection systems. Dinner will be provided by Buffalo Wild Wings - limited vegetarian options will also be available.
2. Social Chair Election
Unfortunately our social chair, Carol Regalbuto, will not be with us this semester because she is studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. Therefore, we will be hosting an election during Tuesday's general meeting to fill her position. If you would like to run, please be prepared to speak a bit about yourself during the meeting and show why you would be a good social director. If you have any questions on the election or what the position entails, please contact Kirk Strebel at strebel2@illinois.edu. Good luck Carol during your study abroad!

4. FE Review Course
The FE Exam is April 25, 2009. For those of you looking for a chance to review the material, ASME will be hosting a review course beginning on February 16. Sign ups will begin next week on the first floor of Engineering Hall. Please stay tuned for sign up times. If you have questions, email Jeremy Koch at jakoch2@illinois.edu.
5. Special Projects Committee Meeting
* When: Thursday, January 29, 7:00pm
* Where: 135 MEB
Engineering Open House is coming up soon! We will be discussing our plans on building a sterling engine exhibit at our special projects committee meeting. 6. ME for Me Conference
The 12th Annual ME for Me Conference will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Come out to this all day event focusing on the various career paths available for mechanical engineers. Ever wondered what exactly a mechanical engineer does in industry? What projects he or she may be responsible for? Get all your questions answered by representatives from Industry leaders such as Northrop Grumman, ConocoPhillips, and GE.The event includes lunch catered by Panera and a raffle at the end of the day. The timing is perfect for those looking for jobs and internships, as it falls on the weekend between two career fairs. It is also a good way for students new to engineering to learn about career opportunities. Sign ups will be posted soon, and please watch for further information concerning the conference.
7. Roundtable with John Deere
* When: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 11:00 a.m.
* Where: Flat Top Grill
Join company representatives from John Deere for an informal discussion and lunch at Flat Top Grill. Feel free to bring a copy of your resume. Dress is casual.

8. Volunteers Needed for EOH
We are looking for Juniors and Seniors to run tours during EOH on Friday, March 13. Contact Sarah Hoogheem at shooghe2@illinois.edu if you are interested and would like more information.
9. Fundraising Committee
The ASME Fundraising Committee is looking for new members! We are involved with raising funds for ASME's many events, and hold between 3 and 4 events per semester. Past events include a cup night at Fubar and selling snacks in MEL, among others. This semester we are looking to raise money for Relay for Life in addition to our usual events. If you are interested in taking advantage of this fun and unique opportunity, please email ASME Treasurer Jon Grim at jdgrim2@illinois.edu.
